We Care About Our Community

At Admiral we have a long tradition of supporting charities, both locally and internationally. In the local office in Halifax, Nova Scotia our charity support is conducted through two channels; the Admiral Community Chest and through supporting local events and not for profit groups in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Community Chest

The Community Chest is a fund to which our employees can apply for a financial donation to an organization, group or charity with which themselves or a member of their immediate family is involved. This ensures we support causes our employees feel are important, to which they or a family member may have benefitted or often are those to which they volunteer their time.

Contributing to the Local Community

In South Wales, in the past year Admiral made donations to over 125 organizations through its’ Community Chest fund. In Halifax, the popularity of this fund is growing and in the past eight months we contributed to 14 groups and organizations including Feed Nova Scotia, Adsum House, Phoenix Programs for Youth and the Halifax Men’s and Women’s Progress Clubs. As these are charities and organizations our employees support, this has the added bonus of fostering a strong sense of community and pride in working for a company committed to exercising good corporate citizenship. In a recent annual staff survey, 93% said they feel good about the way we contribute to the local community.

Admiral Supports Employee Causes

There are other examples of how Admiral supports causes important to our employees. Through our charity match funding we will match any money raised by our staff who wish to be the Admiral Charity Champion and run a fundraising campaign within our office. In the past year our charity champions have donated their funds along with the match funding to a variety of organizations including the Canadian Cancer society, The IWK Children’s Hospital, Barry House and Kidsport . Not only do we donate money, we also encourage and support our employees to donate their time and help out with the event or organization.
